English Aug 26-30

This week we are reading and discussing The Open Window by Saki. Remember, we have a vocabulary quiz on Lesson 1 on Friday.

Computer Aug 26-30

This week we will start Microsoft Office programs. Please remember when you send me assignments, they must be created in Microsoft Office. I cannot open documents from Macs. You can purchase the Office software for Macs, but I believe it is rather expensive.

SENIORS 2014

Yay! It's the beginning of your senior year! Coach Avant and I are excited to be your senior sponsors and I think we will have a lot of fun this year. We have voted on senior class officers and had a three way tie for treasurer. Once those re-votes are counted, I will post all the officers online and in the classroom. Steve Stubblefield met with the seniors Friday afternoon (August 16) to talk about senior portraits. He will be emailing information to all parents and seniors, so please make sure each senior knows his or her parents' email addresses! Homecoming is early this year, so we have a lot to do to prepare. The senior class chose Jazz as the theme for their float, so start thinking about your jazz costume. It must be school-appropriate. We also need to start thinking about a Homecoming song. Homecoming is the first time you are formally presented as a senior class, so this is an important moment!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, ask! I am here to help!

COMPUTER - It's a new school year! :)

I know you are all excited to begin the last year of your high school career! We will do a lot in this class this year and I hope you learn a lot. The first week we worked on creating resumes. These resumes will be printed and placed in your student file to be used for references and the college admission process. This week we will be taking notes on internet safety and email etiquette. You will have a written test on internet safety and email etiquette on Friday.

ENGLISH - It's a new school year! :)

I know it's a relief to get the first week of school out of the way - wouldn't you agree?
We have had a busy week going over the summer reading book, The Outsiders. Our test on the book will be Tuesday, August 20th. Our journals from a character's point of view is due on Thursday, August 22nd. We will watch the movie after the test then compare, so it's important to pay attention! I hope you enjoyed this book. I have had many seniors tell me this book was their favorite summer reading book.
